There was a power outage in my neighborhood today. It was short but reset everything. Happened just while I was on phone with a supervisor and had a difficult case open. I knew it hit the whole neighborhood because of power tools across the street stopping and various surprised yells which occurred.
It happened because of a sudden wind blast which rocked my house and sent clouds of dust up, so thick you couldn't see through it more than a couple hundred feet. (I could barely see the produce store across the street from my back yard.) Heard a number of sirens after, so pretty sure it caused some damage and maybe a wreck or two.
My bike died last night while I was riding to Walgreen's. Pretty sure it's a fuel issue but haven't been able to get it started yet. Give it another try in a little while, then have to start looking at other possible problems. Right now I'm not happy!
I'm rather tired but going to work on some stuff for daughter's room while I watch TV. I can work on her bookshelf and table in the living room. Once I adjust a few things and install supports, I can also build the drawers in the living room.
Got the call from the shelter yesterday. Okay to bring in the oldest female tomorrow evening after work. I am going to miss her and not happy with the whole thing. Just can't take the risk of her getting out and attacking another small animal. Besides, daughter is now afraid of her. She doesn't say it but I can see it. And I cannot tell her to not be afraid. I don't believe the dog would hurt her but never saw the aggression thing coming, either. Besides, soon as her puppies were weaned, she was humping her own son again. I don't need another litter to deal with in a few months.
As for the son, he was getting in the garden. He figured out that his battery was dead on his collar. I replaced the battery yesterday and then found him this morning on the other side of the invisible fence. He must have figured out how to run or jump and avoid the shock. So, I had to increase the range on the fence again. That did the trick. Guess I'll keep that range where it is now, which is 3-4 ft either side of the cable (and would reach as far up, in case he tries jumping it), so he would get shocked for a good 6-8 ft distance if he crossed it.
Increased the irrigation schedule. I suspect salt is remaining a problem. All the rain last year seemed to do a lot of good, so hoping this helps.
