Last year or the year before, I patched some cracks in the stucco outside. Most patches are good. However, one spot has cracked again. That's where the cinder block wall meets with wood frame. They expand and contract at different rates when temperatures change. The standard stucco isn't elastic enough to hold up to the expansion changes. So, going to have to fill that area with outdoor caulking, silicone based, then stucco over that. Or get some stucco which is designed to be more elastic. I could mix some latex in with the stucco for that immediate area.
That crack isn't much of a problem in dry weather. However, in wet weather I do worry about water seeping in and doing damage. It is also an entry point for insects. So it does need to be dealt with.
I have been doing some calculations. To re-stucco the front of the house I estimate will take about 8 bags of stucco mix. Not too expensive. Issue is time. It will take at least one full day to get it done. Maybe plan for that in the fall, while it's still warm and daughter has gone back to school. I'll do other walls one at a time until the whole house is done. Spreads out the cost and labor. Not a chance at all I could do all of it in one day.
