Prepare for growing season

Getting ready for growing season. The new cannabis seeds arrived today. I also had to go Walmart for a few things, so picked up carrot and spinach seeds. Lots of them.

Already planted some of the cannabis seeds in the hydro setup. Going to get some tomato seeds started this evening.

Been thinking about going solar for a while. Pretty much since I moved in here. Okay, I have actually been thinking about solar and wind energy since I was a teenager. Just never owned a house until I got this one. One thing which was holding me back was that the ex said she and her husband may have wanted to move to another state. To be near my daughter, I would have to do the same. Today, she texted me that her husband is going to start a business with a friend of his. So, since I will be staying here, I can move forward on that. I do need to do some research before making a concrete decision. I do know it will increase the property value, so that's a good thing. No way around it, I will have to contract an electrician to get the system hooked up to the grid. Before I can do that, I have other work to do. Maybe I can get the first stages done this spring and summer.

Job changes

More changes coming to the job. In addition to gravitating to the new system I have complained about before, now something new. Today we got word that ALL cases which do not immediately approve will require either a fax review or a physician to physician conference. This means that the fax queue is going to completely explode, along with the heads of all of the medical directors. The time frame for processing those cases will go through the roof like nothing before.

Sometimes I seriously swear this company is trying to implode! Either that or they are taking an unethical approach. Could it be the company gets paid more for fax cases or physician calls? Very, very possible. Yet that could wind up destroying the company, as well by many different routes.

I have to be honest. If Bernie Sanders gets elected and enacts single payer healthcare, it could very well mean my job ceases to exist. May not happen if they maintain enough cost controls and efficiency because this actual job will still be necessary. Better a company that is already in existence and experienced in the matter. If that company does not provide the cost controls needed, the government will move on to another company which does the same thing or just creates their own department. They could very well contract a smaller company and fund their expansion.

Even if this job dries up, I am still in favor of Bernie. His ideas make the most sense for the country, for the world, of all the candidates. Not a question some jobs will cease to exist and others will be created.

Got an appointment with a GI specialist for 2/15/16. I requested that day off. That appointment is in the afternoon. I'll set an appointment with the medical cannabis program doctor for the same day in the morning.

Slow day

Meant to get up early today but overslept. Been tired all day.

Went and got some supplies for hydroponics today. Nothing much. Going to give it another try with some added elements.

Never finished this over the weekend. Now it's Monday but really slow for work due to the snow on the east coast. They're getting hammered. At least 27 people have died. I feel really bad for them. Hope people in general are safe.

Got the hydroponic arrangement set up last night. Nothing planted yet. Ordered some new seeds. Ramping up the nutrients in the liquid this time. Get a few tomato seeds started this week.

I am still standing by my prediction of someone dying at a Donald Chump rally sometime soon. Especially with his recent comment that he could should someone and not lose any voters.

I am really not sure what to think of my ulcerative colitis recently. I was rather sick all last week. Now I seem to be doing better than in a long time. Could it be that I got more I'll while my body was repairing itself? Guess time will tell.

Had to fix the PC again on Friday. Processor burned out again. Either I got a crap processor or it's a power surge problem. Moved the space heater so it is plugged into an outlet in another room. That could be an issue. Oh, well. I've been wanting a UPS for the computer for years, so I finally ordered a good one, tower type. That should reduce problems. Glad the processor was under warranty this time.

Lazy weekend

I've had a fairly lazy weekend. I have a lot to do but it was cold this weekend and I didn't much feel like doing it. Try to catch up during the week.

I did take down the Christmas decorations and a few other small things. Get the decorations in the shed tomorrow. Wasn't done until after dark.

Been pretty active online. Rather important, with the State of the Union coming up and then the GOP Primary.

This past Monday, President Obama signed an executive order which expand and intensifies background checks for gun purchases. You would think that would be the end of the issue for the moment but no. Instead, the gun nuts have gone bonkers. That's okay. It will blow over. Some complain his actions went too far but it really just strengthened laws already in place.

In my case, I don't think it goes far enough. However, he was careful to not go too far legally, which was smart.

Fell asleep last night without finishing this. This morning, can't log into my work computer. Apparently the entire network is down. They did major work on the network this weekend, which was supposed to be complete by Saturday night. SSDD. Figured I'd write while waiting for them to fix what they broke.

Been taking another new approach with right wingers. Instead of presenting them with facts, which they are immune to, just asking them questions. Like what specific policies their candidates propose to fix various problems. Because the GOP candidates keep bragging no boasting but have not suggested one single actual policy.

Jobs? Nothing. They keep pushing the same trickle down economic theory which has been a failure for centuries. But they can still get uneducated people to believe it.

Economy? Same thing.

Guns? They scream against the President but offer no alternative. They voted down blocking people on the terror watch list from buying guns. What did they vote in favor of? Making silencers cheaper and easier to purchase. Because..guns! Yeah, a mass shooter with a silencer would be so much easier to locate than without one.

They claim guns aren't the problem, mental health care is. Then they voted to appeal the ACA and offer no alternative. The ACA was the one program which would provide widespread mental health care.

The jobs report came out. Down to 5% unemployment. Which means 70 continuous months of job growth. What does the GOP say? Nothing. Silence. Yet they promised a jobs bill in 2010 and never even published a draft. Five years. Nothing.

They promised  an immigration reform bill in 2011. Voted their own bill down three times and have done nothing since.

So, my current approach is simple. Rather than arguing, make them question their own candidates. Some try to bring up things the GOP did 16-20 years ago. I make it clear we are talking about here and now. Of course, I get the occasional bull in a china shop response. However, just from the dominating silence, I know this is effective. It's getting through. So I will keep at it. Not throwing out old approaches, just expanding. I also built a dedicated page specifically for Liberal positive arguments which other Liberals can use. So far, my posts are getting rather widely shared.

New Year weekend

New Year's is over. Daughter and I went to the show as planned. It was amazing! She enjoyed it and was still talking about it this evening. A lot of their feats seemed like they were beyond human ability. Very colorful, lively and humorous at times.

We got pizza on the way home and also had little smokies. She didn't really want to do fireworks, even sparklers. I offered to drive to the top of the hill overlooking the city nearby but she didn't want to go back out in the cold.

She mostly wanted to be lazy this weekend, since she goes back to school this week. She did make a poster today from poster board and spray paint with stencils she cut out herself. It was great!

She has also loved sitting around and reading her new book which has been on order and came Thursday. A late Christmas present from me. She loves that series of books.

For me, I am kind of feeling down. Maybe getting sick. Lips are chapped and not much energy. No fever or anything like that. Also emotionally flat. Not depressed, just flat. Hope that changes soon. Could be the weather. It got cold and I am not much of a winter person. Crap, I am NO kind of winter person.

It's January. Have to start getting tomato seeds started soon.
