Cool effects

Thing I have noted about the swamp cooler since the repairs is that it is much quieter. I have to hold my hand up to the register to confirm it's running! Used to be there was no doubt when the swamp cooler was running because it vibrated the whole main house and rumbled. Now it blows stronger but is almost silent.

I note that it took a couple of days for the new parts to "burn in" because the output is stronger now than the day I first installed them. I also installed the water cut-off for the front yard, so there is continuous pressure to the feed line from the well pump. (Since water does sit in the line, no guarantee it's always cool but when water comes out of the well, it's at 55 degrees.)

Feel better this morning. Headache is gone. Not feeling like my muscles are breaking down. Needed that one night break. Keeping cooler, have increased humidity and got some sleep.

Besides, it's Friday! Calls usually go much smoother on Friday, with fewer confrontational people. Though that hasn't been too bad this week. Business has picked up and wait times are really long. So I guess their aggression has been burning itself out before I get on the line. And they have time to actually read the chart before I come on, so they actually have a clue of why they're ordering the test. I also have more callers who have encountered me before. They know aggression and anger won't work and if they ask questions, they will get answers (which they don't really want because it takes time, especially since I will explain the rationale behind the criteria). Since they will spend more time and still get a negative response, they just accept the negative response more readily.

I think they're slowing down on faxing things in, also. Not so many callers insist on getting the fax number when the reply is negative. Physician lines are burning up, though. Maybe one day they will gain some perspective. A test is not urgent for a person who has had symptoms for 10 years and had no change in those symptoms.

Had one doctor call in who told me I was nothing to him because of 20 years of nursing. I wound up telling him I was sorry for the wait time and sorry he felt I was beneath him. His study was denied. Oh, well. I have a feeling his karma won't end there.
