Early shift

So, I start an earlier shift tomorrow morning. Already took some Melatonin and plan to get to bed early.

Now that I'll be working an earlier shift and have a decent car needing a little work, it's par for the course that I'm too broke for parts. Luckily, nothing is too pressing. I just want to get the work done before it becomes any higher priority. Needs new brakes. They're making some noise but functioned quite well. New CV axle on left front. Possibly a new wheel bearing for the same side.
Need to change the transmission fluid and filter. All told, roughly $150 including transmission fluid. Few odd dollars for a new window crank handle and other small parts. Decided I am definitely going to sell the Camaro for maybe $300, which will finance the parts I need for this car. On the other hand, found several things operate on this car which are commonly out of operation on used cars. Battery and tires are good. Radio, heater and AC all work. Haven't tried the DC player yet.

Daughter has been wanting to set up her own very small garden. So, I helped her get started on that today. She picked a spot. I had to direct her to move it a few feet over for various reasons but she was okay with it, once I explained why. Tilled out her space, added compost and calcium. She added wood chips and dead grass and I tilled again to mix it all in. We'll put up a small fence later.

Giving peat pellets a shot for seed starting. Not sure they will fit my trays very well when expanded, so letting some expand in one tray now. Transplanted a bunch of cucumber vines today and they seem to be doing okay tonight. Started some more strawberry plants tonight but these came from Walmart and did not look so great. Guess I'll know if they're viable in a few days. Giving another shot at tobacco this year. I've tried growing tobacco twice before and failed. This time I'm staring it earlier than ever before and will allow the plants to grow larger before transplanting at all. Each previous time some of them germinated but then died after moving them outside. Wondering if sodium was once again a factor. I'll try keeping some in containers and a few others in the ground.

Forgot to get spinach seeds. Think I don't have any left from last year. Check tomorrow.

Good news is that the tiller blades still stand up just well enough to get things done. Not nearly as well as a new set but can get the garden done and deal with weeds. Can't afford new tines for while because they cost $75. Once I get a new set they should last longer than the first set, since the soil is in much better condition. Need to do a tune-up on the tiller this week.

Really busy year ahead. Glad I'm feeling back up to it, slowly.
