Had to knock off early today. Too tired from what I did do.
Managed to move all the rest of the intact cinder blocks. Grand total weight I estimate at 2-2.5 tons. Yes, that's a lot of cinder blocks. The yard looks much better. I also placed one large stack between the wall and the fence for security and to keep the dog in. (He kept getting past the wooden gate I built, which isn't too sturdy.) Don't want him getting picked up by animal control.
The broken ones will remain in a pile. Let the next owner deal with it. I'll tell them that it was my plan to build a waterfall with them. Cover the whole pile with concrete, dig a pond at the bottom, run a line up and cover that with more concrete.
Set the back yard on fire. Not a small fire, either. It happened really fast. I had watered the area around the bonfire but always keep watch and keep the hose nearby. I had just moved some blocks from an area where I walked past the fire and it was contained. Went around the shed for maybe 4 minutes and looked back at the fire to see a huge section of dry grass ablaze. Grabbed the hose and put it out, which was not easy. I would spray one area to suppress the fire, turn to another area and the first spot would blaze up again and spread. I was afraid it was going to reach the fence and then into the neighbor's yard. I finally got it under control and left a sprinkler going to make sure everything was well saturated. That was a number of hours ago and all seems safe. No sign of fire or smoke. Glad I got it put out before the fire department got involved. Bastards want to bill you for just showing up after the fact. I've heard they will bill you $500 just for bringing the fire truck to your house, even if they don't do anything. They billed me $130 for being an assault victim, even though I refused transport or treatment. All they did was take my damn blood pressure and check my pupils! (I will NOT be paying that bill and will contest it on my credit report if they try that.)
Got the workshop a lot more organized. Not clean yet but organized.
As I've noted, I have been putting things out for people to take for free. Think that's enough? Hell no. Guy that lives a few blocks away came up, knocked on the door and asked me if I could help him load the stuff (ALL of it) into MY car, drive him to his mother's house, help him unload it and carry it in! Sad enough he is in his 50's and living with his mother. Then again, I have never seen this guy when he was not asking for something. I said no. Then he asked if I had a cart or wheelbarrow he could borrow to carry stuff. Told him he was too late. I put the wheelbarrow out yesterday and someone took it. It had a flat tire, any way. BTW, every time he walks down the street and looks at the stuff out there he wants to take ALL of it. Not cool. Not cool at all.
Any way, I expect tomorrow I can get some serious work done inside the house. Guess I won't try burning any wood unless I am doing things in the back yard. That means early morning or early evening. Not in the mood to do any more today. By the time I was done my arms were shaking and I was covered with smoke and sweat. Took a bath. Feel better.
Promised a lady friend I would meet her for karaoke tonight. I bailed on her last Fri because of the weather. Last time I went I bailed early because of agoraphobia. Think I'll take a couple of bong hits before I go tonight. May take my small pipe with me and limit my drinking to one drink.
