Cooling down

Very happy to say temps are cooling down tonight and forecast to stay about 10 degrees cooler for the next week! That's a really good temperature range which will allow warmer crops to continue but cooler crops may have a chance to germinate. This is the range where green beans really start picking up. Still warm enough for pollinators to remain active.

Got word today that the solarium film finally shipped. Yesterday. I ordered it on 8/23/14. Expected to arrive on Sat. That's good, with the cooler weather coming in. Be cool enough that I should have no big problem installing it.

Been working out the plans for solar heating for the solarium and figure I can install a rudimentary solar heating system for under $30. I can expand that system later, if necessary. Going to start small because the results I've had in the past indicate I may not need anything large. Just a system to circulate the warm air from the top to the bottom. However, over time I could very well expand it to heat the floors in the main house and maybe even the south rooms. It would be really awesome to have heated floors in the winter! It would be even better if I can later make the whole system solar, including the fan/s. Still not bad if it costs nothing else to run but running a fan or two.

Ended the day today for work with 50 cases. I calculated I needed 40.5 cases to meet base for the hours I worked today. So, even though I worked fewer hours, I still earned an equivalent of an extra hour of pay.

Also got word I will receive word about getting training for another group of health plans which I've been asking about for months. Funny I should be approved for the training right after I fail a test for the first time. Go figure.
