Today was a bit better for work today. I had over 80 cases. Still a really slow network and the system crashed twice today. Still the best day so far this week. I've just resigned myself to this being a bad week.
The network problems really get on my nerves. Most of the problems are predictable and preventable. The company added a little new server capacity, then immediately went beyond capacity by mandating new windows and functions. Got an email this morning that we should keep an extra window open at all times for the new program because you frequently have to go to the old program to work the case. In that process of keeping an idle window open, it prevents the ability to work web or fax cases in the extra window. The result is causing a backlog of web and fax cases plus causing excessive stress on the network and individual computers.
I know!! Let's fix the problem by making everyone keep MORE windows open!!
Really?
Planted a few broccoli seeds tonight.
Noticed some of the purple carrot seeds are sprouting.
Here's an interesting thing. There was an impromptu neighborhood meeting this evening. About security. Planning a neighborhood watch program. Most of the neighbors were there. The ones that could speak English. (Which, honestly, wound up being more than I thought.) I may get help from one neighbor who may know someone who can give me a camera to install in the front yard. Of course, there were some ideas which just won't work. Like trying to make the street a gated community. That is much more expensive and complicated than people think it is. I'm going to call tomorrow about the derelict property on the corner, which is officially owned by the county, so they are the ones who need to do something about it.
Got the first one of the remaining two drapes for daughter's room tonight. Would have finished both if not for the meeting noted above. I am getting better at sewing! At least, sewing big squares. Not going to start making my own clothes next week or anything like that. I can say the drapes look decent, if simple.
