I was off work yesterday after working 2 nights. Now I have to work this evening.
I didn't feel so hot yesterday. Still, I forced myself to get up and work on the living room. Got the first layer of paint, caulking and plaster on the rest of the sunken living room.
I'll try and get that finished before work today. The white part. Get the black trim done tomorrow. Get the tile work on the fireplace done this week.
I admit I was also spending a lot of time online yesterday. Stress is probably one reason I felt badly. Not much better today.
On Thursday, our government bombed Syria based on an alleged gas attack by Assad (Syrian president) on his own people. The claim is seriously dubious. The US tried proposing an authorization of force to the UN. Russia vetoed the proposal and presented a different proposal for an independent investigation. So the US acted with no authority, which violates the UN charter and therefore international law.
I wrote this and it has been spread widely.
Three days after Trump says he will not try to remove Assad-
Syrian civilians gassed in the middle of a war.
US claims Assad gassed his own people in the middle of an armed conflict.
White Helmets (part of Al Nusra, formerly Al Qaeda in Syria) provide video of victims.
Video shows WH people working with no gloves or protective clothing besides masks.
The claim is that Sarin gas was used. Sarin absorbs through skin in seconds.
In any case, ONLY the attacker could know what chemical was used and what protection would be required.
US proposes military action against Syria at UNSC.
Russia blocks that proposal, proposes investigation by OPCW (Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, independent unit of the UN).
Following day, Trump condemns Assad, launches Tomahawk missile attack against Syria. (Cost- $75 million+)
Missile attack destroys most or all evidence of chemical weapons at alleged storage site.
Questions to ask yourself-
Why would Assad attack his own people while under attack from Al Nusra?
Why would Assad use chemical weapons at this time, knowing what the political result would be? (After previous claims, mostly debunked, ANY use of chemical weapons would have a predictable result of claims against him.)
Why would the US launch an attack instead of waiting for results of an independent investigation?
Who benefits from the chain of events?
Assad? No
Al Nusra and ISIS? Yes. Syrian military weakened by missile attack.
Oil companies? Yes. Removal of Assad would allow US oil companies to run their desired pipelines through Syria.
Israel? Yes. Israel wants to claim Syrian oil. Israel has occupied the Golan Heights in Syria for decades and wants to expand.
US military industrial complex? Yes. Just this missile attack cost $75 million or more. Ongoing conflict means ongoing profits.
So put this in the context of a crime by Assad-
What is the motivation?
Where is the evidence?
Does what evidence presented fit the crime?
Why is he convicted with no investigation?
Would you convict a person on trial in court on what has been presented to you?
Now we are waiting to see what happens next.
