Planned renovations

This will take a little bit of money, a few hundred $ but this year I will get the office back in working order. Though it will cost, it will save money in the long term. For one thing, the office is one of the smallest rooms in the house. It can also be isolated from the rest of the house much more easily, meaning I could heat or cool that room while keeping the rest of the house less controlled.

Things I have to do are to run the wiring for that room, which I have not yet done. Then get another telephone line run to the office. Move my work computer in there. Install a window unit air conditioner. For winter a space heater will work. It has southern exposure, so I can probably get some solar heating going there, also.

Other steps will be more for esthetics and convenience but I have some shelves installed in there.

Right now my work space is in the entry room. Much harder to isolate the environment. However, I am working on ways to isolate various rooms in a decent appearing manner. The more this is accomplished, the less my utilities will cost.

Removing my work space from the front room will also make the front room much more attractive, especially around the holidays. It takes a bit away from the tree when my desk is right next to it. Besides being too cramped to put a decent dining table in here in addition to the desk.

Taking down Christmas stuff starting tonight. Not sure if I will get to outside decorations before this weekend.
