Received the red crape myrtle and the seedless grape vine today. Let them both soak in water in the tub for a couple of hours. Then planted them both in small buckets. Hoping for better luck than in the past! Put them both out front in the driveway, the most sheltered but outdoor area I have, to avoid having to harden them off later.
I have to spend at least one evening a week (2-3 hours) pulling weeds and trimming grape vines. Did that this evening. Weeds are remaining in control in the main garden and I'm starting to see some size gain of the grapes. I'm getting my hopes up for some grapes of decent size this year!
The solarized section of the back yard should be ready to pull the plastic off. Plastic has been in place for five weeks so far. Though the edges do have weeds growing under the very edge. I may go ahead and spray weed killer on those weeds and let it remain in place another week or so. That will give the flowers a little more chance to mature before transplanting out.
