Been checking into protein drinks. I am still trying to gain some weight- muscle weight, mostly but it would not be bad for me to carry a little extra because I don't have that much reserve. If I get sick, that is quickly depleted.
I avoid things like Glucerna, which is mostly vegetable oil and water with vitamins tossed in. I go for protein drinks. They seem to cost more but when you add up volume, much cheaper. I also order in 10 lb tubs when I can. Bulk is expensive but worth it over time.
What kills me is how many of them contain Creatine. I have to be careful which brand to order because Creatine has strong drawbacks for me.
Then comes the fact that chocolate flavored drinks mask the whey flavor best. However, chocolate always costs more than any other flavor. So does whey with no flavoring. So, pay more for anything that you don't have to gag down. About $75 for a 10 lb tub. Again, worth it. In volume, I'd guess 1 lb makes 2 gals, so it comes out to less than $4 a gal.
Okay, time for work.
