Finally got the taxes done. This was one of the worst years I've ever done taxes. Two states, four employers, unemployment, the house.. One employer took no taxes out. Luckily the employer I worked for least.
Through all of that, happy to say I don't have to pay anything in. In fact, I'm getting a decent refund for the year I had. Not enough to pay for the rebuilt engine but more than half of it. I'll be only a few weeks away from having the Camaro fixed once I get the refund. Refunds, plural. Because part of it is federal, part New Mexico state and part Colorado state.
Happy to be getting close to getting the car fixed. What sucks is that before Wells Fargo screwed me again, I was hoping to use the tax money to get new teeth. Just have to put that off a little longer. Still catching up the mortgage. May shift some finances around to do that faster.
Have to divert some attention soon to the front step. All the moisture this past year accelerated the decay of the front step (unprotected particle board) and it will fall apart soon. I'm going to replace it with a concrete ramp and small porch at the top. Figure it will cost about $50 and one day of work. I have enough scrap wood to use for the temporary framing.
In general, going to be doing a lot of concrete work this year. However, just for safety I may hold off as long as possible buying large amounts of concrete and rent a truck or see how much it would cost to have it delivered. That or buy a few bags at a time.
