Nervous

I have to admit I am nervous from this latest problem.

Looking at what options are going to be. There are medications to keep ulcerative colitis under control, hopefully bring it into remission. Still, I am looking into and considering various alternatives which I can also do to help accelerate the process.

Had some intestinal pain this evening. Probably because of the biopsies taken today and then eating dinner. (I kept it pretty light.)

One problem is, if the medication doesn't work and the disease progresses. If that happens and it becomes bad enough, it can result in a need for surgery. Meaning a colectomy (removal of a section of the colon), which may or may not mean a colostomy, probably temporary. It gets closed about a year later with another surgery. That surgery is dangerous and has a long recovery period. Not to mention the blow to self image.

May sound gross but I'm definitely not the only person with this condition. For that reason, I'm not afraid to talk about it.

One common sense tactic is to add a strong laxative to my regimen for a while, to allow my intestines more chance to heal.

An alternative medicine therapy is to greatly increase lactobaccillus, at least for a while.

Interesting thing is that this could mean (possible) that I do not have Celiac disease. It may be just ulcerative colitis (UC). However, that seems very unlikely with my reaction to gluten. Seems more likely the UC is another condition subsequent to Celiac and possibly to Candidiasis. To top it all off, stopping smoking is actually a factor which can make the condition worse. Maybe I started smoking again too late?

Gotta get to bed.
