I'm not getting things done very quickly today. Hope my pace picks up.
I did get the sink and tub caulked. Honestly, that was probably the best looking caulking job I've ever done. But I've learned a few things in the last few months. And I am not claiming it looks fully professional. Just a good job for me. I've done some horrid caulking jobs in the past.
Then caulked a crack in the rear wall. That will have to be painted over. There is a persistent crack which I have patched multiple times but it keeps returning. It's from expansion and contraction. Mostly it occurs where the cinder block changes to wood frame. They expand and contract at different rates and when they built the extension they did not include an expansion strip. So the only thing to do is caulk with a more flexible material than stucco. Not worried about the paint much because it is latex based.
Applied floor polish in all the areas where I applied sealant yesterday. Looks good so far. Just waiting for it to dry. Then I may apply one more coat in a couple of spots. Like most wax or polish, this will help seal the floor more than just the sealant alone. One thing is that I still have the military side of me. If I polish a floor, I like it to be really, really shiny. If possible so much you can see your face in it. That will not be possible with the brick floors but you can definitely see the light reflected on them.
Going to do the rest of the floors later. I have to move my bed and a few other things back to the front of the house first. After the polish dries, of course. Leaving a different pathway open through the kitchen to the fridge this time. Not admitting to how I will handle using the bathroom. I'll just say I'm going old school for the night.
Update- While writing, checked the floors and they were dry. So I laid down another coat of polish. It does look better now. More even shine. I think it will make a really good impression when people walk in the door.
Maybe I'm being too particular. People buy old barn wood to make floors out of these days. I just want the house to make a serious impression when people look at it.
