Grout and..

Did not get everything done I planned on today but pretty close. I knocked off early. Just got frustrated at little stuff.

Got the grout done. Dang, it takes ten times longer to clean up excess than to apply grout! I still have to do the final cleaning tomorrow, after the grout between the tiles is dry. That part will be much easier. Just basically a film remaining. It definitely looks really good. I am going to have to do some more spot painting. Note to self for the future: If doing painting and tile in one room, do the tile first.

Finished the entry way, including new baseboards.

Installed some new baseboards in the hallway and small living room. So the living room is done and hallway has one very small section remaining, which I'll do at the same time as the office.

Got the dishes done. Yay. Kitchen smells better. That water was pretty rank.

Fixed the bathroom baseboards with construction adhesive.

Got part of the office floor done. That was where I got frustrated. Turned out I missed a whole bunch of staples in one area of the room. Of course that was the first area I started with. Once you start on one area, it's not advisable to go to a different part of the room because they may not meet up and you wind up with partial tiles in the middle of the floor. The staples were all in one concentrated area. No surprise I missed them. They kind of blend with the old linoleum. Plus there is no pattern to the staples at all. One area has no staples at all. A few inches away there are like 20 staples in a few square inches. They face all directions of the compass. If I left them in place they would destroy the new vinyl tiles.

So, I'll be doing the main floors on Monday. That was the plan I had a couple days ago. Had hoped I could move it up by one day. I checked the drying time for the sealant and it's 24 hours.

For tomorrow, I HOPE to finish the office floor and baseboards, set fireplace tiles, daughter's room and spot paint through the house. Again.

Sunday do the tub and sink, move everything to office and daughter's room and get some work done in the yard.

Oops. Now this is why I keep writing this stuff. The floors will take two days because of reasons I detailed before. I can probably do everything from the bathroom and my bedroom back to the office the first day, then the front of the house the next day.

I'll still be done with the house this week.
