Just now finishing setting the tile in the kitchen. I am seriously sore and tired. I felt like stopping hours ago but really wanted to finish that one thing.
Got started a little late because of bad sleep last night. Then as soon as I was going to start, found out the bucket I was using for mortar had a hole in it. (I think I dropped the trowel in it yesterday and the edge caused the hole.) I had not other large enough buckets without holes, so ran to Walmart.
I did go all the way around the kitchen, with tile behind each counter in addition to behind the stove. Which meant I had to cut a whole bunch of them. It was worth the effort, though.
The tile saw performed really well. Perfect cut every time. Though it slung water quite a bit. Basically clay mud. Cleaning up after in general was a pain. Mortar, clay water..
Have to grout tomorrow. I'll also set the tile in front of the fireplace tomorrow. Both of those will be much easier and faster than what I did today. Couple of days later I can apply grout sealant.
The kitchen looks a lot more modern now. And easy to keep clean.
Down side is while cleaning I found some spots on the counters that need spot painting. I can do those and void using those spots if I'm careful. Just do that while I'm doing the last counter on Sat.
Going to have to reset the rubber baseboards in the bathroom. The adhesive didn't hold properly. Have to use construction adhesive.
Oh, finally got the circuit breakers labeled. Had to do that to close off the old light switch and outlet.
Kind of funny, I keep walking in the laundry room at night to get something from the dryer and forget there is now a light fixture and switch in there. I don't think the light in that room worked from the time I moved in here until I installed the new light.
Okay, can finish the entryway and the office floor tomorrow.
