Election anxiety

Some people may find it silly but I'm having anxiety about this election. I voted tonight. Can actually say I was surprised and pleased that there were a lot more people voting than I expected for this area. It did mean a wait and it took much longer than I had figured it would. Not complaining, though. I'm glad to see it.

My anxiety comes from the thought that the Conservatives will gain far too much power this election. If that happens, I will be seriously, seriously disappointed in this country. That would mean likely loss of gains which have taken decades to achieve.

However, there's probably no stopping it. I have been predicting a civil war for some time and I don't think it's going to be avoided. This is just the next (and major) step in that happening, if it occurs.

Watching the news and so far the GOP is expected to gain the balance of the legislature. However, that doesn't mean Conservatives. In a number of cases here, the Democrats have been more Conservative than the Republican in some races.

I considered not putting the heater out for the dogs, since it went unused by them last night. In the end, I did place it out but only partly for the dogs. The heater also helps the plants. Tonight I placed the heater on the concrete steps for safety. Check outside in a minute. If the dogs aren't inside the solarium, I'll turn the heater around to face the plants. They have more thermal mass and that could actually help keep the whole solarium warmer.

I do need to get another heat source going out there. And definitely need to add some thermal mass to the inside. The wall of the house does a lot of good, since it's all cinder block and stucco. But more would be better. Even if I don't get the heater built right away, I should place the cinder blocks for it in the solarium. Once I get the solar heating in place, I can direct most of the air flow at the stack of blocks, which will heat them more during the day and that should keep the whole solarium warmer at night. That would have a cumulative effect, so heat gains from day to day if they don't lose all the heat gained in the course of the night.

Okay, I'm tired. Getting to bed. Check the election results tomorrow.
