No jelly yet

Picked the rest of the grapes I was going to pick from the red grape vine. Turned out to be a lot more than expected, so I wound up with a total of about 12 lbs of grapes. Washed them and ran all of them through the food processor, then boiled the juice. Came out to a little over a gallon. For juice, that's not much but for jelly it's a really good amount because it doesn't have to cook down.

Had to run around to 3 different stores to get pectin for the jelly. One store carries jars but no pectin. Another store carries both but was out of pectin. Finally the third store had pectin in stock. I got the low/no sugar kind, so I can use less sugar. If additional sweetness is needed, I'll use sucralose.

Even using the food processor, the process is messy. Anyone who says it's not is either lying or willing to spend many more hours doing this than I am for the same results.

After all the other work involved, once the juice was boiled I ran out of steam. No more energy to sterilize jars and canning equipment. I'll stick the juice in the fridge and finish the jelly tomorrow night.

I ordered a battery operated dog whistle today. My dogs make some noise but the damn Chihuahuas across the street make so much noise at times while I'm working that I have to close the window next to my desk. Besides, daughter isn't fond of me carrying the pellet gun to deter the (more) Chihuahuas down the street when we walk but I don't trust those ugly hairless rats. So I want something which will control all the neighborhood dogs. Mine a limited part of the time but neighbors make no effort to control their animals. Just the noise is enough of a problem. I could get in trouble if an auditor listens to one of my calls with dogs barking in the background. I like my job. Don't want to fail an audit and deal with the fallout when I plan on applying for a supervisor position in the future.
