More control

Obviously the dog needs more control than I have been exerting. Last night he did not eat the food with the medication in it. Meanwhile the battery in his collar died. Then he managed to knock over the small gate and get out one side of the fence. He was gone this morning when I woke up. He came back and is okay, so I'm glad of that. However, I quickly replaced his battery and put the gate back in place. I'm going to have to wire the gate in place. 

So, that's what I will be doing this evening instead of taking him for a walk. 

I don;t see a lot of other options here and I'm not going to outright punish him but also not going to reward him for bad behavior. 

It would seem my daughter no longer enjoys spending much time with me. Maybe it's about time I start packing my shit and look at getting the hell out of this damn state. She's the only reason I have remained here. If she doesn't want to be around me I'm not seeing the point of being here.
