Resume out

I did update resume yesterday. Made cover letter integral with the resume. My resume is  pages long and only covers my nursing career. No need to go adding pages. At some point it becomes too much information and is burdensome.

Started getting resume and applications out.

I have one offer so far, less insurance than financial planning. They tend to have similar and often common admin practices, so could help. Besides, it's employment.

The company I would most like to work for is Farmer's Insurance. They provide training and financial backing that no other company offers, which would be very valuable.

It has occurred to me to start my own agency. In doing so, I could potentially offer several different brands of insurance. Mostly trying to avoid conflict while offering different forms of insurance. Such as Farmer's does not offer medical insurance. To offer that, I would have to offer another brand. One agent offering any form of insurance a person or company needs would be a great benefit and make good business sense.

Have to get my foot in the door, first.

Right now would be a really good time to get into the insurance field. The economy is improving but still slow. Federally mandated health insurance will take effect within 1 1/2 years.

If becoming an independent agent, I could probably start from home. If zoning allows, I could transform the front room into an office for the purpose. (With some investment.) If I could manage to make the business grow enough, eventually employ help and then open an office nearby.

Some people do not want to do business in the south valley. However, I see a lot of hidden growth and improvement happening here. Not long before those things become more apparent. Better to already be in place before that occurs.
