Cooling issues

Like my karma has demonstrated, I always go through multiple problems in the same general area.

In this case, it's cooling. The AC in the van. Then the thermostat. Then the pump to the water cooler. Today I turned on the switch to the swamp cooler and got a buzzing noise but nothing else.

Climbed on the roof, checked and the swamp cooler would spin manually with no abnormal resistance. Came back in and tried the switch again, same result. The motor was shot.

Made a quick run to Home Depot and got a new motor. Installed that, adjusted the pulley for maximum air flow and it is working great. Best cooling from the swamp cooler I've had this year.

I had just replaced that motor 2-3 years back. I think the spider assembly was leaking where the pump hose attaches. I fixed that while installing the new motor. Otherwise, these motors tend to last a lot longer than 3 years.

I saved the old motor. Try to refurbish it. A 3/4 HP motor could come in handy for one of my "mad scientist projects".

Got out this afternoon/evening and trimmed the grass. It looks decent now. Both front and back yards. That took a while but happy it's done. Since the weather is cooling down and we're having a small amount of rain here and there, I'm going to water less this month. See if I can avoid having to cut the grass again. But if I do, I have 3 weeks from now for it.

Got most of the laundry done.

Now all I have to do is clean house and buff or polish the floors and I'll be ready for inspections on Tue afternoon.
