Haven't been picking up much extra work this week, which will keep a lid on the next check. Try to accelerate that next week. This week, between a persistent cough and the attitudes of a lot of callers (I won't say a majority) I wasn't in much mood for additional hours. Yesterday, I got a headache on the first call, which lasted 25 minutes for one single case and still went to the medical director for review. Too many callers like that and I would be making about $6 an hour. Had a number of calls yesterday which exceeded 10 minutes, no matter how I tried to speed things up.
Feeling better today, after a long coughing session on first waking. Brought out some nasty stuff but I think that was my body finally expelling stuff that needed to come out because much better since then. Can't believe how long this hung on but kept moving from place to place, seemed like it was gone and then flared again.
Paid the electric bill this morning, which I am sure was a combined bill but not noted as such on the website. They just changed their site and a lot of old information wasn't carried over. Certainly hope that's the case because my bill was $300! With the amount I usually budget for living expenses, that leaves me with $500 for other bills. Have to check a few accounts before I pay extra on the mortgage but should be able to swing something extra.
I definitely need to sell the Camaro this coming week. I'm not attached to it, I'm just not fond of the tactics people use here. You state a price is firm and they try to talk you down, no matter how low the price is. Tell them no and they try to argue and even insult you. It's the culture here.
I would like to divert $20 if I can and buy a plastic barrel to build a compost tumbler. I have wood and steel pipe already, so the barrel is all I need. Have to see if the people selling them are there on Sat.
It did freeze here last night but only a light frost. That's good for the apple tree. I understand they produce better if they flower in cool weather. Explains why apples here are usually so small. Aside from the fact that most people grow crab apples and never water their trees.
Once these trees reach sufficient size, they should grow rather well in my yard, with the high water table and lower temps for the south valley. Tree roots can tap directly into the aquifer here once they're big enough. Even some rose bushes can manage that because the water table is so high. Too bad tomatoes don't grow roots that deep!
I do keep wondering what would happen if I dug down far enough to reach the water table, inserted some compost or potting soil and planted some limited crops. May try that this year, just to see.
