Grapes, vacation planning

Got the new grape vine in the ground today. For the moment. I realized later I placed it poorly. Changing the layout of the garden to establish an actual vineyard. Small one but not too small. Planning on keeping the vine trimmed mostly so the upper vines produce grapes but leave a couple of long runners (at least one on each side) at the bottom and bury them in soil until they form roots, then cut the connection to the "mother". That way, I can establish two new vines each year.

Still going to maintain and extend the vines along the fence. Kind of gained an emotional attachment to them now. They are fairly hard to maintain with their placement, though.

I also set the wisteria in the ground today, next to the garden gate. I may have to attached something more convenient for it to climb. It doesn't send out tendrils like some vines do to enable it to climb by itself. I need to install a small dripper for it. Again, I can propagate it in the same manner.

Need to get the pumpkin and watermelon plants in the ground this week.

Starting to plan, prepare and lightly pack for vacation. I always plan well in advance, so I don't forget anything. Making sure security is in place, car is in the right condition, etc. This weekend I finally got a new stem valve installed in the spare tire. Going to see if I can get an alignment done at a nearby shop this week. Climb under the car and check the minor leak, see if I can track it down. Gave daughter a packing list, so she doesn't forget anything. Next time I see her will be to pick her up to go.
