I am rather down. Bernie did not do so well in the primaries today. Not what I expected or hoped for.
At this point, I am seriously losing faith in this country. I cannot believe a violent racist and a lying assassin are the two leading candidates for the Presidency at this point in history. We are going so far backward that there is absolutely nothing funny about it. This is widespread insanity and nothing short of.
Oh, well.
If not for my daughter if Bernie loses the nomination I would pack up and move to Canada. As it is, I may do that when she turns 18 and ask her if she wants to go.. If any of us are still alive at that point.
Right now I am worried my predictions of civil war have been grossly underestimated. It may wind up being much, much worse than I previously thought. No matter which way we go now, it is imminent. It escalates every day but is nowhere near the apex. It is going to get much worse before it gets better. IF it gets better. I have no faith right now that it will.
On the up side, weather is warming up and I am getting my energy back. Very happy the time change was this past weekend.
Got out and pulled dead Cosmos from last year in the garden. Removed some of the old tomato trellises that broke last year.
I had bought some lumber for new trellises this weekend after dropping daughter off at her mother's. Cut some of the lumber for posts tonight.
Looks like I finally got things figured out for growing cannabis. What I have been doing wrong is not enough acidity. It normally grows in humid conditions and moist soil. That kind of environment typically has rather acidic soil. I have seen mention of soil pH in a number of places but have not seen anything stressing it as a major factor. This time around I am using acid every time I add water to the plants. At this time every seed I planted is growing and looks healthy. Still small but they appear stronger than they have in the past. Also growing faster than before. That is, once they germinated.
I have a lot of plans for this year. Getting my energy and health back. Finances have improved. Hope they stay that way this time.
One big thing is that I have gained the knowledge and resources to start working on solar heating for the house. I am going to build and install a system this summer. Make it reversible and see if it helps cool the house. If not, it will still be good for heating. Worth a try. I have seen many houses with solar heating panels but they always have only one panel. Maybe not this year but eventually I will install multiple panels for increased efficiency and to be able to heat zones.
Another thing is that I need to finish the office. That alone will help with the utility bills. If I can isolate my work space better it would mean I could maintain the temperature a lot less in most of the house.
I am still thinking of solar and/or wind energy but it would make more sense to do the solar heating project/s first because that is what takes the most energy for the house. If I do things in that order, I would need a lot fewer solar panels. The items which require the most energy in the house are heating, cooling, the fridge and washer/dryer. If I deal with the heating and cooling my electric bill will be reduced by at least half, maybe more.
