Neighborly

I picked two buckets of tomatoes tonight. One large and one smaller. I chose to live up to the way I was raised and share with the neighbors. So I bagged most of the tomatoes and walked around the neighborhood, giving one bag to each house on the street. Each bag was about 5 lbs.

This past weekend, I gave about 10 lbs to the ex and her husband. Plus I gave some to another friend, who owns the dance studio.

If I get another large crop, I'm thinking of giving a large amount to either the nearest homeless shelter or a food bank. If not too hard to get there, I'm leaning toward the food bank, as the homeless shelter has a strong religious leaning and much of their services are tied to religious requirements. At least listening to their sermons is mandatory, from what I understand.

The cucumber crop continues to be really good. I have around 10 lbs of cucumbers waiting to be pickled. However, I need more vinegar. Go get that tomorrow, after the new grocery specials come out. I also want to look up a good cold pack recipe. One cucumber came in at about 20 ounces and another at around 1 lb. However, lots of others are normal size or pickle size.
